What should I expect with Invisalign?

From high-powered professionals to blushing brides and grooms, crooked teeth and smiles can be embarrassing for people of all ages; so it’s no surprise when many clients say that one of the main barriers to correction has been the obviousness of traditional wire braces.

Well fear no more, because Invisalign offers a complete orthodontic system that is virtually invisible, easy to use and effective.

What is Invisalign?

An Invisalign System consists of a range of transparent polymer aligners that are fitted to your teeth to help move and correct your smile.
The system is practically invisible when worn, and is easily removed for eating, sport and teeth cleaning – so there’s no need to avoid the foods you love or to bring a toothbrush with you to every restaurant.

Who is it suitable for?

While Invisalign is suitable for many patients, your technician will be able to assess the potential for you, or your family member, to achieve a perfect smile with this system.

What does my first Invisalign consultation look like?

First, your Invisalign technician will take x-rays, moulds and photographs of your teeth and bite.
With this information, they will map out using specialist software the best way to correct the bite and positioning of your teeth using the Invisalign System. Once satisfied, your technician will create a series of clear aligners necessary to help you reach this dream result.

Are the aligners uncomfortable?

Unlike fixed wire braces, patients with Invisalign do not report the same chafing, soreness and mouth ulcers that traditional braces can inflict.
The Invisalign System works by placing gradual tension on the teeth that need moving, so while the first few days of a new aligner might be uncomfortable, your teeth and inner cheeks aren’t likely to get caught or cut on the smooth surface.

Are the aligners easy to talk with?

While the aligners add a little bulk to the teeth and mouth, patients report that it may only take a few days to perfect your speech.

ow often are they changed?

Patients are provided a small set of transitional aligners to wear between dental appointments. Patients will transition from one aligner to the next every two weeks, with the new aligner adding a new set of adjustments to the smile.
In every dental appointment, your Invisalign technician will review the health and progress of your bite before providing a new set of aligners.

Can I still eat the foods and drinks I like?

Absolutely! One of the best parts about Invisalign is that patients remove the aligners for every meal, so there’s no issue of you breaking a bracket or getting food stuck in wires.

What about hygiene?

Because you remove the aligners to brush your teeth and clean the mould, it’s far easier to keep your teeth and gums healthy with regular brushing, flossing and mouthwash.

How long will I need to wear the aligners?

Each aligner is to be worn for two weeks for 20-22 hours per day before transitioning to the next.
Your Invisalign technician will be able to advise how long they expect your entire treatment to last.

Invisalign is one of the most advanced, simple and exciting ways for patients to amplify their confidence and look – it has never been easier to create a brilliant smile!
