Dental emergencies can be avoided by taking simple precautions such as wearing a mouthguard during sports activities which aids in preventing breakage or your teeth being knocked out. Avoiding hard foods which may crack your teeth is also important. Of course, professional dental check-ups and care will maintain healthy gums and are of paramount importance. We recommend dental cleaning with your check-ups as this will keep your teeth in check to prevent future dental emergencies.

Excessive bleeding when brushing your teeth or aching gums is not necessarily a sign of a dental emergency, but more likely a sign of periodontal disease and it is important to get treatment as soon as possible to keep your gums healthy so as to prevent further complications. A toothache can mean various things so it is best to make an appointment to get it checked.

Our dentists will assist you with any dental pain you may be experiencing. Once your Emergency dental treatment has been completed, a comprehensive examination will be scheduled to determine if there are other areas of concern.

Emergency Care Faqs

Our dentists will assess the situation and inform you of where the infection is and the best way to quickly treat it. Patients trust us to remove infections and keep their teeth and gums in excellent oral health. Whether fixing a general cavity or treating a dental abscess, we make it possible for a tooth to be free from infection and pain.

If your tooth has cracked or chipped, as long as the tooth structure remains in place, we can usually correct it with one of our dental treatment options. There are multiple ways that we can restore a patient’s teeth from small fillings to dental crowns. We can provide you with information on what your options are and the best way to restore your tooth while achieving the goals that you have for your smile.

If your tooth has been knocked out, rinse the tooth under warm water without scrubbing it. Next, place it in a cup of milk and bring it with you to your dental appointment. We will try to save the tooth, if possible. If not, we will discuss options for replacing the tooth.

You can take over the counter pain medications and use ice to mitigate any swelling. Bear in mind that even if your pain level is tolerable you will still need to see a dentist as soon as possible.

Including the above, the sudden onset of pain is an indicator that something is not right. We can examine teeth and determine what is causing the pain. It may be a small cavity or gum disease which has led to exposure of the tooth. Both can lead to intense discomfort and require emergency treatment. When in doubt it is always best to schedule an appointment.
