Meet The Team



Tony graduated a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Sydney University in 1992. For many years he has owned and operated several successful dental practices located in Sydney. Tony is committed to continuing education and training in order to help patient’s achieve the smile and the confidence they deserve. Tony believes in clear and concise communication and in extensive treatment planning. He will provide the time to approach each patient on a personal level, listening to each individual patients needs. This allows him to customise every patient’s Dental Treatment Plan to ensure that all patients are provided with optimal dental treatment to suit their unique needs.
Tony holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM), 2003. His unique qualifications lead to his involvement in the corporate aspect of the dental industry as a Consultant. Tony consulted to several international dental organisations. This has provided Tony with an array of experiences that range from the new dental product launch in the Australian market to the tailoring of specific in practice protocols. Tony currently still provides limited consulting services. As such, Tony continues to bring to Dental Avenue the very latest in technologies, products, and services that aim to continually improve both clinical and non-clinical practice protocols.

Tony enjoys sporting activities with his kids including bike riding and tennis.



James always looked up to his grandfather, Dr. Bryan Digges, and wanted to become a dentist from a young age. James graduated from a Bachelor of Pharmacy before completing his post-graduate degree in Dentistry from the University of Sydney. He has made several trips abroad, volunteering in Timor-Leste with the National Dental Foundation, as well as participating in their local volunteer program.

Most recently, James has completed the Graduate Diploma in Dental Implants from the University of Sydney, receiving passes with High Distinction.

James enjoys the variety of practicing general dentistry, meeting new people and getting to know his patients. He has worked to develop skills in providing wisdom tooth removal, dental implants and root canal therapy.

James has a warm and gentle manner, which helps make nervous patients more comfortable in the dental setting. He also has a good working relationship with local dentists and dental specialists, so that his patients receive the highest level of care.

When not working, James can be found swinging a golf club, or swimming laps in the ocean to keep fit. He is a devoted husband to his wife Mikaela (also a dentist) and father to his baby girl, Pia.



Graduating from the Griffith University in 2010, Mikaela quickly joined our Dental Avenue team and has been with us ever since.

An accredited provider of Invisalign® (invisible braces), Mikaela is also a member of several professional societies including the Australian Endodontic Society, Australia and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry, and the Australian Dental Association.

Passionate about accessible dental health, Mikaela volunteers her expertise to programs run by the National Dental Foundation to provide dental care to disadvantaged members of the community.

With a keen interest in paediatric dentistry, Mikaela loves working with children and their families to make every dental session rewarding and comfortable.

Believing in the power of a smile and the change it can bring to one’s life and health, Mikaela finds dentistry a rewarding career where she can combine high-level care with outstanding results.

When not in the clinic, Mikaela likes to travel, spend time with her husband and family, and stay fit running, playing soccer and swimming.



Robert graduated from the University of Sydney with a degree in Oral Health before attaining from Charles Sturt University a Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry. The combination of these degrees qualifies Robert as a Dentist, Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist all rolled into one!

Such a unique perspective allows Robert to practice his passion, which is treating all members of families, young and old, through various and differing treatments. Robert enjoys getting to know his patients and determining how to motivate them to take better care of their oral hygiene and improve their overall health and lifestyle habits.

Outside of work, Robert enjoys eating good food, going to the gym and all things basketball, which he could talk about all day!



Edward graduated with a Bachelor of Medical Sciences at Macquarie University before moving on to graduate with a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Sydney. During his studies, he has travelled to remote NSW to provide high quality dental treatment to rural patients, including a rotation with Royal Flying Doctor Service. This experience has allowed Edward to appreciate the importance of getting patients out of pain and restoring them to daily comfort and confidence in their smiles.

Edward enjoys providing general dental treatment, with a particular eye for restorative dentistry. His easy-going, cheerful demeanor helps to put patients at ease with the dental experience. Edward’s treatment philosophy revolves around his patients, treating them as he himself would like to be treated.

Outside of dentistry, Edward has a passion for tennis and reading. He’s also a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings.



Kim is our dental hygienist, who specialises in preventative dentistry. She started working in private practice in 2009 as a dental assistant and receptionist. She has also completed her certificates in dental assisting, dental radiography, and oral health education prior to proceeding in achieving her Bachelor’s degree of Oral Health in 2013 at the University of Newcastle.

Kim constantly keeps up to date with the latest developments in oral health, hygiene, and other aspects of dentistry by attending continuing education programs. She has a special interest in oral health education, periodontal therapy, and teeth whitening.

It is of great importance for Kim to help educate patients on how to look after their oral health in the best way possible in a way that suits them. You will have gained a wealth of information when you leave Kim’s treatment room.

Outside dentistry, Kim enjoys watching movies, a good coffee (recommendations always welcome!), and spending time with her family.



Mary is our practice manager here at Dental Avenue Maroubra. Mary joined the Maroubra team with over 30 years’ experience in practice management and administration.

Over the years Mary has been involved in training and supporting other staff members, assisting new clinicians settle into private practice along with the relocation and set up of existing and new practices.

Having also lived and worked in the local area as a Licensed Real Estate Agent for several years Mary has built up an excellent rapport within the local community, always taking the time to listen and assist them with their questions and concerns.

During her spare time Mary enjoys being outdoors gardening and walking. She also loves cooking for her family and friends.



Dani is our caring dental assistant, who joined our team early 2016. She has over 37 years of experience as a dental assistant and her time in dentistry has seen her involved in staff training and implementation of strict infection control protocols.

Dani thrives in what she does because of her passion in working with people.

Dani has a very warm nature, making patients feel comfortable while they have their dental treatment.

She loves interacting with people and making them feel at ease and happy.

On her free days, she loves going to the beach, gardening, walking her two dogs Versace and Elvis, and socialising with people.



Rebeckah is our Front Office Receptionist and has been working in the dental industry since 2012. Rebeckah completed her Dental Assisting Certificate in 2013 and continued on to complete her Dental Radiography certificate in 2014.

Having worked in both private and corporate dental practices all around Sydney, Rebeckah has acquired many skills through education and experience.

Rebeckah has worked closely with Oral Health Therapists and Hygienists over the years and is thus very attuned to the importance of maintaining regular check-ups. Rebeckah has had all-encompassing practical contact with many cosmetic and major dental procedures including All-on-4 and is able to provide thorough information to patients both over the phone and in person.

She is also qualified in early childhood education and care and has worked with many young children with high support needs. Rebeckah has an interest in motorbikes and has her own sports bike which she rides every day. Her other interests include science and history books as well as cooking, and relaxing at Little Bay Beach.



Francesca contributes both as a dental assistant and receptionist. She completed undergraduate studies in Medical Science at UNSW and then a Masters of Bioethics at Monash University in Melbourne.

She is currently studying the Doctor of Dental Medicine program at the University of Sydney and will graduate in 2020. Francesca enjoys the experience of private practice in addition to the public health system experience she gains at the Westmead Centre of Oral Health through university training.

She is passionate about the oral health field and in particular the long term patient care and rapport of general practice dentistry.

When Francesca isn’t at university, working or studying she spends her free time with her family and friends.



Giulya is our friendly dental assistant. At a young age she decided that she wanted to work in the dental field. She began working in the industry at 17, and simply loves what she does.

With over two and half years of experience, Giulya strives to ensure that our patients experience every procedure with comfort and leave happy with their time in the chair. Infection control and patient care is always her priority.

In her spare time Giulya loves spending time with her family and friends, and Howard her adorable dog.
