Should I brush my teeth after every meal?

It is important to brush just before you go to bed and at least one other time during the day, with a toothpaste containing fluoride. Eating and drinking foods containing high contents of sugar and acids such as juice and fizzy drinks weaken the enamel on your teeth. Brushing straight afterwards can worsen erosion as the teeth are more susceptible at this time. It is best not to brush your teeth until at least one hour after eating. It is especially important to brush before bed as the salivary flow, which is the mouth’s own cleaning system, slows down during the night and leaves the mouth more at risk from decay.
