What age should a child start visiting the dentist?
We recommend your child’s first check-up to be around 18-24 months of age. At their first visit we work with the parents to develop specific oral hygiene practices for their children. This is also so the stigma of dental fear will be alleviated. Sometimes children see a dental professional for the first time after a traumatic incident such as a playground accident and they can associate this long term with seeing a dentist. Having a pleasant first experience helps children in keeping at ease visiting a dental professional.
